The captain of the Marine ship Victor had been assigned to spent most of the day watching all the new recruits doing their chores with a rather unsettling look plastered on his face. Victor along with all the other rookies knew that their captain was simply waiting for them to slip up in some way or another so he could scold their ears off, sadly none of the rookies gave him that satisfaction. The rookies completed their daily tasks perfectly with smirks on their faces, the reason for this was simple. Today was Friday, everyone on board knew that every friday night they would have calamari (which was Victor's favorite meal) with dumplings and on top of that the rookies on board would get any dessert of their choosing. Plus since their ship was docked in Loguetown they knew all the ingredients would be fresh,As a result everyone on board did their jobs and finished before supper, well everyone except Victor. As the ship's doctor Victor was stuck with the task of patching up a few new recruits that injured themselves during the day's training session. The white haired teen could hear utensils and plates clashing which alerted him that everyone else was already eating while he was stuck finishing off someone else's stitches. As soon as the final stitch was sown Victor rushed off his chair without a word and raced through the hallway to quickly wash his hands, while wiping his hands Victor couldn't help but glare at a nearby clock, to his surprise it was already 19:50. The teen increased his speed, grabbed a plate and fork then stood before the chef with his plate "don't hold back". The chef dished up a generous amount of calamari along with 3 slices of lemon and a dumpling. Victor nodded in respect before quickly dashing away to sit at a table along with a few other rookies. It seemed as though all the new marines he spent time with knew Victor had a smile behind his mask even though they hadn't seen his face without it, the powerful scent of lemon violently made its way into Victor's nose while he watched the steam rise from the fresh appetizing calamari. Finally he used his fork to lift a piece of calamari while shifting his mask to the side slightly in order to show some of his mouth in order to eat, sadly when the fork was mere inches away from Victor's mouth one of his commanding officers spoke Victor! Captain's quarters immediately. With a clenched fist the young marine adjusted his mask to cover his face properly before gently placing his fork down. With a sigh he gathered some energy and rushed off to the captain's quarters as quickly as possible in hopes of getting back to his seat before his food got cold. Victor came to a brash halt at the captain's door nearly bumping into the freakishly masculine man that he called captain, doctor Victor T. Griffin reporting sir. the white haired teen spoke while standing with perfect posture and saluting slightly. The captain simply handed the young marine a piece of paper without a word before nodding his head, Victor wasted no time and began reading as quickly as he could with his calamari still in mind. Finally when he had finished reading the paper a drop of sweat made its way slowly down Victors temple. "Law enforcement!? he spoke out , slightly surprised. Though he was glad that he would finally get his chance to kick pirate butt he was still quite sad about missing calamari and the special dessert but since the ship was docked at Loguetown he knew that the mission had to be completed immediately. Victor grabbed his sword, his medical bag and on his way out one of his commanding officers handed him two pairs of handcuffs. Later that night... Current time: 20:00 The white haired Marine could already see the restaurant, an old man stood in front of the door with a butcher's knife and a stern look as if he was on guard duty. As soon as the man saw Victor the old man temporarily let his guard down and looked at the watch on his wrist "you're just on time, I can't believe they only sent one kid though." disappointment quickly became evident on the old man's face as he opened the door to let Victor in. The inside of the old man's restaurant looked surprisingly classy compared to the outside, the restaurant had a black and silver color scheme and miniature lights that decorated nearly the whole ceiling. Most of the walls weren't actually walls, instead a majority of the walls were extremely large fish tanks with odd exotic looking fish Victor had never seen before. Reasonably the restaurant also had many support beams to make up for most of the walls being fish tanks. Mr Hiruzen couldn't help but size up Victor and wonder what a teen with a mask could really do. Victor could see the doubt on Hiruzen's face and in an attempt to calm him the teen spoke in a slightly cold tone. "Worry not mr Hiruzen, I was told I'd be meeting two Marines from other ships here"

"Got a problem with that, Athena." The Marine Captain, James Morgan, was a man of little emotion and a fierce temper... So, yea, really and truly he was like most of the men, Marine, Pirate or otherwise, that Athena had the pleasure of dealing with. "No problems, sir," she said eying the paper in her hand once again, within held the details of her recently assigned task. "Sure, a bit of a dick move of you to give me such a task, but I like it," she confessed. The mission was easy and insulting to her, but she always oddly enjoyed the pleasure that came with being looked down on. "Watch your tongue, child," he snapped, fixing her a steady glare. "I'm actually older than you," she corrected with a brief smug smirk. "But either way, my apologies. I'll clean the decks tonight by myself or something for it later," she said with a obvious roll of her eyes. "Will that be all," she asked calmly. "You'll do more than that for your disrespect you little bitch," he said. Typical. She was counting on him to say that. How many times have she had this back and forth with him or any other of her superiors. She had truly lost count. He laughed now, knowing she likely found the conditions pleasing. "That'll be all," he said fanning his hand at her. - - - - - - - Logue Town was always a riot. Pirates came and went frequently under the Marines noses. She was anointed by the Marines lack of efficiency with handle the threats, but all the same, pleased at the prospect of killing them herself. These men, whoever, they be were careless. You poke a fire once or twice and it doesn't burn you then you shouldn't try to poke it a third time. And as she arrived at the metaphorical fire, she was greeted by her client, Mr. Hiruzen and another. That's right, she was suppose to do this with two others. She was perhaps offended the most by that. Good. "You must be Mr. Hiruzen," she said, donning her most convincing smile. "And hell to you too child," she said to the white haired male. The Marines were still recruiting them young, she saw.

Victor had already taken a seat at the back of the restaurant and began looking at the fish that swam peacefully in one of the unreasonably large tanks. It actually had a calming effect on the young marine but that didn't last long. Victor suddenly heard the front door opening which caused him to instinctively un sheath his sword without looking as if it were a reflex, then the teen heard mr Hiruzen greeting someone which made it obvious it wasn't the thieves so Victor put his sword away and looked in the door's direction. Suddenly he saw a rather tall female walk in. Victor hadn't seen many females of that height with a slightly masculine build of that nature, it became quite obvious that she had done her fair share of fighting or training. Since Victor always wore a face mask he was more than familiar with the subtle messages eyes send, which is why he could instantly tell that she was more of a threat than she let on. The woman's lips might have formed an innocent enough smile but her eyes weren't doing the same. "You must be mr Hiruzen" the lady spoke , her tone even seemed to be convincing but her eyes still didn't convince him in the least. "greetings, Indeed I am mr Hiruzen. You must be one of the Marines sent to help with the thief problem. I was a bit concerned when a teenager came alone. Me and my staff had tried to get rid of these thieves and failed so I was expecting a squad of 5 marines or something. Mr Hiruzen responded with a calm tone and a genuine smile, when the woman greeted Victor the young Marine nodded before speaking "what's up, I was told that two other Marines would be on the same mission but.." Victor didn't get to finish his sentence due to the lights suddenly switching off in the restaurant. "technical difficulties won't make this mission any easier mr Hiruzen, you might want to have your power source looked at and fixed before the thieves get here." Victor's voice echoed in the dark , if one paid attention to detail they would have noticed that irritation was in the teen's tone. Mr Hiruzen responded with a rather unsettled tone "They're already here, They always cut the power before sneaking in. The thieves are a group of cyborgs so the dark benefits them since they have implanted eyes which allow them to see in the dar.. mr Hiruzen was also interrupted in the middle of his sentence by a punch that came out of nowhere, then followed the thud that came from Mr Hiruzen colliding with one of the tables in the restaurant. The sound caused Victor to stand on alert "Marine?!" Victor called out in the dark to the female marine. Marine was all he could call the lady since he hadn't had time to ask what her name was " you wouldn't happen to have night vision abilities too would you?" just after Victor spoke the subtle sound of a chair being moved an inch or two by accident could be heard, Victor had no way of telling if it was one of the thieves or if it was the female Marine that had moved the chair. The question of where the third marine was did happen to cross his mind but there were more urgent things to concern himself with at the moment.

"Fear not, sir. I'm sure the youngster won't disappoint you. Don't underestimate the power of youth," she said, smiling kindly to the teenager. Playing nice. Oh, how she hated playing nice, albeit every now and then she knew, she needed to get others to like her. Win them to her side, if necessary. And the young Marine suddenly looked ready for her guidance. Where was this other Marines though. Where was the other useless Marine dog.
The room going dark stole her thoughts away from any further foul mouthed insults. She looked back outside, seeing the lights there were still on. Technical difficulties? No, it was only a hunch when it first surfaced, but a strong one at that. This wasn't natural and her client only served to prove her correct. She would have take a moment to pat herself on the back had it not been for the blackness that was consuming them now and the looming threat of their targets.
Cyborgs... The mention of that didn't deter her as she entertained the idea of killing... defeating the pirates either way. Albeit, she couldn't help wonder whether the Marines actually knew this extra detail. Cyborg technology, or any form of technology, wasn't very common to the public and the Marines weren't likely to send in a rookie and a power restricted rookie knowing this. She chuckled darkly in the void of light, casting a echo around the room. This was a absolutely splendid development.
Even in the darkness, the Winter General was calm as she folded her arm beneath her ample bosom. "Unfortunately not," she said, before resting her palm along the hilt of her rapier at her waist. "You should get to safety, Mr. Hiruzen." The moment she heard the sound of moving furniture, she unsheathed her rapier and lashed out. The sound of the chair being sliced in too was all she heard. She frowned; she didn't strike flesh.

Post by Kevin Marley on Jan 4, 2016 14:10:45 GMT 7
Despite being relatively well liked by his comrades aboard the marine vessel he had been assigned, Kevin was greatly disliked by Captain Beakly. Both sides of this were in large part because the boy never turned down a request and smiled incessantly regardless of what kind of work or words he received. The other chore boys loved this, choosing to offload extra chores on the boy in exchange for small coin or simple favors. The captain, a highly intuitive and superstitious man, found Kevin to be suspicious where most captains would love to have a chore boy so diligent. 'Perhaps this was why the boy had been assigned to me' the man would think to himself as he watched with a keen eye. So it was begrudgingly that the man pushed the dispatch across his desk.
"Your assignment", the long nosed captain squawked at him with a critical glare. He waited as the boy reached out and began to read the papers contents before continuing, "You are to assist in simple law enforcement, after which you will await reassignment. I expect that you will make all haste the moment we make port, is that understood?" As the captain expected the boy simply rolled he paper into his pocket, looked up with a cheery smile and replied, "Yes sir, of course sir!" The captain scowled only momentarily before dismissing him.
- - - - - And that was that. Just as instructed Kevin hurried though nighttime Loguetown and, at the rate he moved through the city, he would probably be the first to arrive by a good hour or two. He took the extra time to scope the outside of the building and try to discover where the group might enter from. He found nothing. The windows were recently barred, the obvious back door locked, and it didn't look like the kind of building to have a rooftop entrance. The end result was a lot of wasted time. Something did catch his eye though. When he had first arrived two rather darkly dressed persons had quietly slipped inside the closed shop next door, but once the door was shut no lights were lit inside the building and since then no one had exited the building that he could see. Kevin, being the curious machine that he was, decided to use his remaining time to test the front door of the shop. It was unlocked. He quietly snuck inside.
A quick skulk about the building was rewarded with a discovery of the group of would-be thieves. He heard them before he saw them, talking freely in the dark. "Shouldn't we do this another day?", a nervous voice started, "I heard the old man had called for the marines!" A second, darker and more confident voice said, "So what! We're tryin' to become pirates! If this is our last score here then we should leave with a bang! We'll beat those marines grab everything we can and be gone by morning." There was a round of agreement before similar comments came from the others. The conversation continued until eventually there was the click of a window latch and very dim light entered the room. "Its time, lets get started", the darker voice returned and the window shut. This was followed by a creaking door-like sound and enough footsteps to cause Kevin to shy away from the door. But when everything grew silent and no one exited the room, Kevin ventured a peek. The room was empty.
When he entered the room he found an open hatch in the center of the room and everything became clear. The group probably knew a way to get into the restaurant from below. Carefully, Kevin lowered himself into the earthy tunnel which curled gently toward the restaurant, confirming his suspicions. It ultimately ended in a small square in the ceiling of the tunnel; a large tile-sized square that exited into a lit room where, upon climbing out, the android spotted only a single cyborg tinkering with some sort of... something. Kevin barely had enough time to climb out of the hole and notice this before the 'something' went quite and all the lights of the restaurant went out.
Keven suddenly found himself staring into the eyes of the now turned cyborg. They both stood dead still for a moment before the cyborg attempted to open his mouth. In an instant Kevin lunged toward him with speed despite the boy's awkward stance. He slammed the thief to the ground and began to slam his fists into his victims face. The fight was short, hasty and clumsy as Kevin quickly took out the non-fighter of the group, perhaps a little overmuch so considering his cybernetic body. Either way, the man was unconscious and the muffled sounds now coming from further within the restaurant confirmed no-one would be free to come investigate. He turned toward the device and quickly surmised what it was.
Outside of its problem with thieves, the restaurant had to have been doing fairly well for itself considering it could afford a lighting system like this instead of traditional braziers and torches. The android briefly considered following the thieves into the main dining area, but his low-light vision was inferior and had yet to be upgraded. Besides, he didn't agree with the idea of trying to find and catch all seven or eight of the bandits that snuck inside by himself in the dark, since the other two rookies assigned to the job would be dead-weights in the dark. So he took to the power source. Could he fix it? Maybe. The thief had only spent a minute or two tinkering with the device before the lights went out so it should be just as easy getting it back online. Kevin just hoped his two 'partners' could do well in the dark until then. He knelt be the mechanism before almost inaudibly whispering to himself, "Father..."
((Sorry for the delay. I should be good to make timely posts from here. :\ My next post the lights go on unless you guys want me to change my post.)

Despite it being dark ,Victor could sense that he looked like a traditional wide eyed rookie. The wide eyed part being literal since he had opened his eyes wider than normal in an attempt to pick up a few details in the dark sadly this was a futile attempt it was just too dark for human eyes. Subtle beams of light from the moon shone in from the restaurant's small windows but that didn't do much good since the windows were too small and the thieves were smart enough to completely avoid the spots that were illuminated. They also remained silent to avoid making it easier for the marines to locate them. While Victor stood still in his little spot trying to figure out a plan before any of the thieves took advantage of the dark to attack him the other marine spoke. Now that Victor knew where she was it would be easier to attempt a retaliation plan despite their disadvantage. Suddenly Victor heard the loud sound of a chair breaking. It seemed as though the other marine had decided to take action, sadly from the sound of it the thief that had moved the chair earlier wasn't hit since No one would remain so silent after being struck. "that's it." the solution had hit Victor, if he spread his smoke around him and made it denser than normal he might be able to feel where the thieves are. Sadly the short phrase Victor said lead the thieves to believe he figured out where they were. In no time two blades pierced Victor's left arm. The force with which the blades entered made it obvious that they were thrown ,Despite the pain he made a slight sound of discomfort and clinched his teeth together tightly. From the location of the pain he could tell the two small blades hadn't hit anything important but thanks to the force they were in deep and it still hurt like heck. Victor had to get rid of the thieves quickly so he could treat himself before he started losing blood. Meanwhile One of the thieves silently made their way near the female marine and attempted a combo of kicks on her, one kick would be aimed at her legs the next two would be aimed at her gut and the last would go for her jaw if the previous strikes hit their mark. Despite the pain, The teen marine allowed both his hands to release smoke and spread it around the room before making it more and more dense. Thanks to the density of the smoke Victor could tell that only four thieves were in the room and they weren't too far from him, Victor brought the smoke back and kept it within a 10m radius before a small smile formed behind his mask. "Marine rule 01 never cough in the dark or you might trip and get hurt, Marines just don't do that." Victor was aware that his statement made absolutely no sense so the thieves would just assume marines followed dumb rules, but if he was lucky the female marine would pick up the message in all the nonsense he spoke. Silently Victor uttered the words "smoking curse", the smoke that the young marine had kept within a 10 meter radius suddenly became a bit more thick, since he had used it to locate the thieves it was easy for Victor to direct the smoke into the Thieves noses and mouths. It took a few seconds before the thieves began violently coughing as if they were gravely ill, they suddenly threw their weapons to the floor in order to reach for their throats and open their mouths even wider in an attempt to ease their coughing and get some air. Victor hoped the female marine would understand what he meant by his stupid statement from earlier, by making the thieves cough the teen marine had made it easy for her to locate the thieves by sound but he couldn't keep this up for long since his arm was aching. The post was all good bruh :3
